Terms & Conditions of Hire

General

The cost of the hire paid by the customer to Country Kit & Classic Car Hire Ltd includes VAT where applicable. All hire cars are covered by fully comprehensive insurance for the named drivers.
Breakdown cover is supplied with all our hire cars.
The hire cars can cover unlimited mileage during the hire period, but only in the UK. If overseas use is required for the car please ask for details.

Drivers

a) Drivers must be aged between 25 and 70 years and have held a full UK or EU driving licence for at least 24 months.

b) Should not have been convicted of an offence in connection with the driving of a motor vehicle or motorcycle and/or have had their driving licence endorsed or suspended or penalty points imposed. Parking and not more than 2 speeding offences in the past 3 years may be ignored. "Spent" convictions, covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 may be disregarded.

c) Should not suffer from any mental or physical defect or infirmity or suffer from fits, diabetes or any heart complaint.

d) Have not had their insurance declined and/or renewal refused and/or special insurance terms imposed as a result of claims experience and/or have had their insurance or cover cancelled by any Motor Insurer.

e) Must not be engaged wholly or partly in professional entertainment or professional sports.

f) Must not be a jockey or connected with racing of any sort.

g) Must not, whilst driving, have been involved in more than one accident during the past 3 years.

h) Must disclose all relevant information on our Insurance Proposal form. If a claim is rejected due to non disclosure the Driver will be held solely responsible for any losses, damages or legal fees incurred by Country Kit & Classic Car Hire Ltd as a result.

I) All drivers are responsible for complying with the Highway Code and all laws relating to the Road Traffic Acts of any country the vehicle is used in. To pay any penalties, fines, fees, court costs or any expense imposed on Country Kit and Classic Car Hire Ltd resulting from the use of the vehicle during the hire period.

j) Please note accidents are only reportable to the police if damage to property, injury to persons or livestock and certain categories of domestic animal have occurred. In the event of any accident or theft involving our vehicle, immediately report the matter to the police and obtain a crime reference number. Call Country Kit & Classic Car Hire Ltd on 01373 827812 and inform us of the situation. Obtain the contact details of any witnesses and any third party involved. Make no admission of liability and never leave the scene of an accident unless it's to receive medical treatment. Provide the police, us and our insurers with every assistance required. Never leave our vehicle until it has been collected by Country Kit & Classic Car Hire Ltd or by our appointed agent. Complete the accident report form within 12 hours of the incident and return it to us.

Additional Driver

An additional driver can be added at a cost of ?15 per day provided they meet all the conditions above.

Identification

In addition to the Driver's driving licence we require additional means of validating the Driver's home address so a utility bill, bank statement or such must be provided. If Driver has a photo licence then the paper form must be provided. If the Driver does not have a photo licence then a passport must be provided as well. The Driver must also consent to a having their photograph taken.

Security Deposit

At the start of hire a deposit will be required in the form of a valid credit/debit card pre-authorisation. If the vehicle is returned at the end of the hire in the same condition as at the start, apart from normal wear and tear, then the pre-authorisation will be cancelled. If there is any damage then the whole of the amount will be debited. Any over payment will be reimbursed.

Vehicle Inspection

The driver will be required (in conjunction with Country Kit & Classic Car Hire Ltd) to complete and sign a vehicle condition report confirming the condition of the bodywork, paint and interior prior to taking the hire. The driver/hirer will be liable for the cost of repairing any damage incurred during the hire period. A further inspection will take place on the return of the hire car to confirm that no damage has occurred and that all equipment such as maps, first aid box, picnic set etc. have been returned. Failure to return all equipment will result in additional charges.

Hire Timings

Cars are hired for any single day or combination of days. The day starts at 09:00 and ends at 20:00. If hired for more than one day then the first day commences at 09:00 with the last day completing at 20:00. Other timings can be arranged with the agreement of Country Kit & Classic Car Hire Ltd.

Failure to return a car at the agreed time may result in additional charges.

Booking and Cancellation

A non-refundable deposit of ?50 is required at time of booking. The balance is payable 14 days before the start of the hire or on the day if agreed by Country Kit & Classic Car Hire Ltd. If 14 days notice of cancellation is received then a full refund will be given less the booking deposit. If less than 14 days notice is given then the full cost of the hire will be charged with no refund.

In the event of mechanical breakdown or circumstances beyond our control whereby the chosen car is unavailable we will immediately contact the customer and arrange to provide either a substitute vehicle for the original hire period or an alternative date for the chosen car. If this is not suitable then a refund will be offered. All bookings whether verbal or written are judged as acceptance of these terms and conditions.

Hire Car Use

The hire car must not be driven by anyone other than the nominated drivers. The hire car must be used solely for social, domestic and pleasure purposes. The hire car must not be used for the carriage of passengers or goods of any description for hire or reward. The hire car must not be used for racing or pacemaking, used on any track, test circuit or off road activity, in any contest, reliability or speed trial or any use in connection with the motor trade.

The hire car must not be left unlocked or insecure whilst unattended. All security devices that are provided must be used whilst the car is unattended.

If during the hire period the driver has any concerns about the hire car then they should cease use of the hire car immediately and contact Country Kit & Classic Car Hire Ltd who will arrange repair or recovery as appropriate. If the driver is not responsible for the breakdown then a partial refund and/or future hire will be offered.

Fuel

The hire car must be returned with a full tank of petrol failure to do so will incur an additional charge.

Smoking

Smoking is prohibited in all our hire cars.

General

Country Kit & Classic Car Hire Ltd reserves the right to refuse to hire any vehicle to any person.
