Every independent Upland Escape comes with its own hire car included in the price, which is the key to your complete mobility while on holiday with us. The freedom this provides means that you are able to do what you want, when you want. You can get around at your own pace and are not restricted by bus timetables, tour programs or train schedules. After your flight or train journey, there is no need to wait for public transport to get you (perhaps tortuously) to your final, very rural destination. Nor is there any pressure to pack light, because there will be no need to haul your luggage across stations and on and off coaches. You can simply set off and enjoy the magnificent scenery in the privacy of your own vehicle, and arrive by the fastest and most direct route. As all our self-guided walks start and end at the same place, you can park your car and set off, confident that there will be transportation waiting to get you home again, however much you decide to dally on the way. It also means that a wider range of the area’s walking is accessible to you, as a private car can get you to places that buses cannot. Finally, your hire car means that you can set off and explore the area as you wish: you may decide to set off before breakfast to enjoy the sunrise over Mont Pelat, or drive to the market in the next village, or dine at all the best local restaurants, not just those within walking distance.
Of course, we are very conscious that this flexibility and independence should not be achieved at the expense of the environment you are exploring, so the hire car element of your holiday is carbon neutral, and the carbon emissions from your vehicle are offset, at no additional cost, by planting trees in managed woodland through our work with the Carbon Neutral Company. In fact, we donate around double the average mileage covered on an Upland Escape, so your hire car is actually carbon positive.
